Working with us

We have thought long and hard about the kind of firm we want to be – for clients and colleagues alike.

It’s about treating people well, being there when we’re needed and demonstrating that we care through our words and actions. Why does this matter? Because it means we’re more committed and deliver better results, every single day.

We value…

01

Intelligence

We are proud to be rational, analytical, thoughtful people. We share our knowledge and experience, ask questions and give constructive feedback.
02

Commitment

We will always challenge each other to be the best so we can feel proud of the firm. Listening without judgement is vital as we strive for constant improvement with the aim of consistently exceeding the expectations of our clients.
03

Energy

It is our firm belief that work should be fun and rewarding and the workplace should be a positive environment. Solutions are our focus, not problems, and we are always open to new ideas. We collaborate freely and help each other however we can.
04

Integrity

Even if it’s difficult, we do the right thing. Openness, honesty, kindness and respect are important to us. We follow through on our commitments and hold ourselves accountable – if something goes wrong, we say sorry and fix it.
05

Common goals

We talk, debate and come together around a shared vision. When our clients do well the firm does well and we, as individuals, do well, too. We cheer each other on, celebrate our successes and recognise a job well done.
06

Trust

As professionals, we respect the privacy of colleagues and clients alike. We take responsibility for our work and work hard. By demonstrating that our clients’ interests always come first, we win their confidence and loyalty.

Healthy Working Lives champions

Our Healthy Working Lives journey started when we achieved the Gold Award – the first accountancy firm in Scotland to attain this accolade. From fruit in the office to supporting active lifestyles, it’s about taking practical steps to look after the wellbeing of our team.
Healthy work-life balance

Family and friends matter. We promote a work-life balance that allows everyone to excel at work AND take care of their personal wellbeing outside of the office.

Feel good by doing good
Each year we nominate a charity and make time to donate our energy and expertise to a good cause.
Reduce, recycle, repurpose
We’ve taken measures to help protect the environment including scanning documents to reduce paper consumption, plastics recycling and repurposing office equipment to donate to charity.

What’s life like at Thomson Cooper?

People join us from school, college or university and stay for years. Others have returned to Thomson Cooper after working in industry or for other firms. That tells us we’re doing something right and that our talented staff members enjoy working here. But what do they have to say?

“Always made to feel welcome”

— Danielle Nickson, Trainee Accountant

Since starting Thomson Cooper I have always been made to feel welcome by the staff and partners, it is an enjoyable place to work as a trainee

“It’s a great place to work”

— Julie Downie, Accounts & Audit Manager

I joined TC with many years professional experience as I was looking for further challenges.  TC has definitely met my expectations on that front but what I most like about working here is the friendly and supportive atmosphere where client relationships are the main focus so that we can deliver their needs.  Add to this the great team we have, it is a great place to work.

Are you a talented trainee or an experienced accountant?
