Lily Nickson – Dance World Cup Finalist

We are delighted to sponsor Lily Nickson (12) on her journey to the Dance World Cup, which starts on Friday 30 June in Braga, Portugal.

Lily from Dunfermline has been dancing for many years and studies with Centre Stage Performing Arts in Crossgates, Fife. She qualified with her trio of dancers who will be performing three group dances at the event. The group battled against over 800 groups to make it to the final, with only four dances for each genre and age category able to qualify from each country.

The first Dance World Cup was held in 2004 near Munich in Germany. At that stage only ten international dance schools took part.  Now the Dance World Cup has over 120,000 children around the world aged from 4 to 25 trying to qualify in their country for the finals. The competition caters for many different dance genres including ballet, modern, contemporary, lyrical, jazz, tap and hip hop.

Danielle Nickson, Lily’s mum and a Chartered Certified Accountant with Thomson Cooper, is delighted with her daughter’s achievement, “Lily and her friends have worked very hard to get to the finals with fantastic support from the team at Centre Stage. We have been busy fundraising to cover the costs of the trip and are very grateful to Thomson Cooper for sponsoring Lily to help her to attend the finals.”

Senior Partner Andrew Croxford commented, “We are delighted to be able to support Lily in her dance ambitions. We applaud her discipline and determination in making it to the Dance World Cup finals and wish her and her team every success.”
