At Thomson Cooper our purpose is to “listen, advise and support our clients to achieve their goals”.  We have an exciting opportunity for an individual who shares that purpose to join our team.  The position will suit an individual with at least 1 years’ experience working within a professional environment.  The post is full time (37.5 hrs per week) based in our Edinburgh office.

Your main role will be to greet visitors to the Edinburgh office and answer a busy switchboard for both offices.  In addition to this, you will provide administrative support to the teams in both Edinburgh and Dunfermline.  You must therefore have a welcoming manner and the necessary skillset to develop and maintain relationships with both clients and colleagues plus great attention to detail.

Although this is not an exhaustive list, below is an idea of the varied workload associated with the role –


  • Welcoming visitors
  • Answering telephone calls, passing on messages and dealing with enquiries
  • Scanning and distribution of incoming mail
  • Administration support including preparing letters and enclosures for posting to clients and emailing correspondence direct to clients
  • Franking and posting of mail
  • Maintaining visitor logs and boardroom diaries
  • Updating of client data on our Practice Management Software
  • Preparation of fee notes on our Practice Management Software
  • General office support duties to ensure the daily smooth operation of the office such as maintenance of stationery supplies, kitchen supplies, preparation of teas and coffees for visitors etc


You will have experience of working in a busy office environment, preferably in the professional service sector.

You must be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and oral.  Good IT skills.  Have a passion and natural flair for delivering an outstanding level of client service.  This is a wide and varied role and you will be able to demonstrate how you approach dealing with multiple priorities in a fast changing environment.
