British and Scottish Accountancy Awards Winner
Our Healthy Working Lives journey started in 2010 when we achieved the Bronze Award – the first accountancy firm in Fife, and indeed Scotland, to attain this challenging accolade. A successful initiative to supply fresh fruit in the office prompted the firm to sign up to the programme, run by the Scottish Centre for Healthy Working Lives (www.healthyworkinglives.com).
Following a confidential staff survey, a working group was set up to promote the aims of Healthy Working Lives and to explore the suggestions that were raised from the survey. This has led to campaigns on healthy eating and an active lifestyle, including walking and running groups and the firm’s support in taking part in events like the Edinburgh Marathon.
Healthy Working Lives is seen very much as an ongoing vehicle to promote the health and wellbeing of everyone within the Thomson Cooper team. We've now achieved and maintained Gold standard, the highest level possible. Managing Partner David Walker is a strong advocate of the programme, “We are delighted to be part of the Healthy Working Lives success story. Everyone has shown real enthusiasm for the programme and I’m very proud to see our staff getting involved in various sporting challenges.”
The wait is over. The results are in, and we can now announce that 'Quaranteam' have won the Step Count Challenge with a massive 3,300,001 steps! Well done to Gemma, Emma M, Mark M, Nicole & Stuart. And your prizes are.......some festive slipper socks so you can put your feet up in comfort after all that walking! Collectively, the total number of steps amount to over 19.5 million, estimated to cover around 9,000 miles. This equates to travelling from Fife to Perth Australia (22 hours on a plane or 126 days on foot), or Fife to Perth in Perthshire 162 times there and back. Huge congratulations to those who took part – a tremendous effort from everyone.
Our selection of quaranteams are ready and raring to go this Autumn as we undertake our latest walking challenge. Great for team building and easy to enter, check out the Step Count website and get involved!
Our Rugby World Cup office sweep raised enough money for us to buy lots of tea, coffee and goodies for our new nominated charity Andy's Mans Club Dunfermline, Glenrothes and Edinburgh. A special thank you to Peter for organising the sweep and Ann for some canny shopping. We can't believe how far you made the money stretch!
Firm News for 10th October 2019. In light of #worldmentalhealthday we are delighted to announce that the Thomson Cooper employees have voted Andy's Mans Club Dunfermline as our nominated charity for 2019 / 2020. We look forward to working with Andy's Man Club and helping raise money and awareness of this great initiative.

However, the winners of the most improved team was Step Club 5, who managed to improve their performance by an amazing 48.47% over the course of the four weeks. Amazing job everyone.
